It’s hard to believe Fettes College lies in the heart of Edinburgh when viewed from this perspective. Its wooded grounds create an oasis in the middle of Edinburgh that give the impression Fettes College lies in much more rural surroundings, rather than a stone’s throw from the hustle and bustle of Stockbridge and Edinburgh’s New Town.
It does however mean that come autumn, ‘Fettes’ Forest’ turns into a wonderful and vibrant carpet of warm tones and colours, within which the stands proud the main College building itself.
Capturing this perspective through a break in the cloud allows the sunlight to brighten the foreground, creating a more striking contrast as the gloomier clouds lurk overhead.
